Went digging in the documentation at Dreamwidth and found that yes indeed they do support OpenID. This is very good to know. Confirmed this by posting to a friend's Blogspot blog from my DW account.
Was introduced recently to yet another blogging site, Dreamwidth. It caters to creatives, focusing on providing space for people to share writing, art, and anything else they might make. It operates like LiveJournal, meaning I was able to completely control the look of my pages there. I like that!
So, I'm not sure how much I'll be hanging around this blog any more. Vox does provide OpenID support, which DW doesn't seem to have yet. That's worthwhile keeping, so I won't abandon this place completely for at least a while.
Sometime in the past few months when I started this blog, I said it would be linked to my original website Suncat Studio. Finally, I bothered to make a new piece to post over there.
here.
Still haven't worked out how to re-direct comments on the picture back here, so be sure to come back after perusing.
I admit it--I'm a sucker for those silly little name generators you'll find all over the web. So when friend Silvernfire found one that would give your Dewey Decimal Classification number, I had to try it. I expected something amusing and random. But noooo, mine has to be significant.

What it says about you:
You are very informative and up to date. You're working on living in the here and now, not the past. You go through a lot of changes. When you make a decision you can be very sure of yourself, maybe even stubborn, but your friends appreciate your honesty and resolve.
The significance? My father was an architect, I have been a practicing artist for most of my life, and my profession is computer science.
Edited May 26: Okay, maybe the horse is long gone, but I decided I'm going to mask the ol' real name for now.
Happy to say that the fixes worked. I can now go back to my LibraryThing profile and see hit statistics for this widget. Now to figure out where to cast more widgets.
Never did see any stats at LibraryThing for my widget, as had been promised. Finally had a chance to enter a bug report. One of the developers there responded quickly, and he and I have both made some adjustments. *cross fingers* Now for some stats.
I do have a plan for this blog. Don't know yet if I'll be able to build what I want, but the first part is done. Suncat Studio, my primary site and showcase for works, properly links over here now. This place links back. Now I get to figure out how to cross-link individual works over there to spots over here were people can easily jump and comment. That's what a blog is for, right? I've seen what I want to do at other sites, but have yet to see if my technical skills are up to reproducing the effect.
I hope you've taken a look at my LibraryThing widget, down to the lower right. It shows a small selection of the books I've cataloged over at that site. They've been having a few issues with tracking hit statistics on the widgets, but it seems those are sorted out now. So, I've put in a new widget (yes, looks just like the previous one), and will hopefully now get real hit stats. So reload this page often, and give me some statistics!
And then, if you like books, come over and see us at LibraryThing.
So, does anyone make a big, huge splash with their opening blog post? I admit I'm still not sure what I'm doing in this space. It's completely at odds with my nature to write about myself, let alone in a public place. Yeah, there's privacy controls on these blogs, but you probably know what I mean.
But, I have maintained a web site for some years, Suncat Studio. That's been a place to share my artwork and fiction, and a space to explore web design and technology. Now, as I've been staring at this baby empty blog, it occurred to me that I haven't really had a good way to chat with people about said artwork and fiction. Back in the day of paper notebooks it was easy to say "hey, can I look at your stuff?" and talk about it right there. The plain web site was missing that. Yeah, there was email, but even that wasn't very conversational. So, I finally got a clue and am setting this up as that conversational outlet for the web site.
Of course, if I ever do think of something else to say that I for some strange reason want to share with lots of folks at once, well I can now.
Now I must go explore how to properly interlink this blog and the web site, and make it easy to hop back and forth if folks want to comment about stuff they see there.
With fresh energy today, I just ran another pseudonym through, one for the alter-ego I created in high school. That... read more
